'[Henry Louis Gates] had a Malcolm in Mecca epiphany'.... LOL
The 'Encyclopedia Africana' is a nice enough effort, but H.L. Gates is no Malcolm X, not by a very very long shot.
Once again you're setting up a straw man argument. Who is denying that there were Black African slave traders who got rich off the slave trade? But you have to look at the context. If the Europeans had not arrived with guns as a trading commodity, and set up a situation where if you didn't have guns you were quite likely to be raided and end up slaves yourselves, and where to obtain guns, you had to sell the Europeans slaves... things would have been very different. Like it or not, the MAJORITY of the blame lies squarely with the Europeans. That is a simple fact.
