WHAT "DEM" THINK *LINK*
In Response To: Re: WHAT "DEM" THINK ()

greetings qween, hotep,

hmmmm, *s*,....Dr. Clarke was fond of saying "...all marching does is waste good shoe leather".
lol,....in mississippi we would reason around such topics, these same questions in particular and one excellent brother's response would be to lift his lighter and flick it, letting the flame burn on high, he would hold that up as a response, needless to say everyone got the point. I would immediately respond with " Marcus Garvey "! though i personally abhor violence, i know we are capable of great violencies , the teachings and practices of Garvey would enter into the reasoning.

even today , if we as a people begin to implement the general principles of Marcus Garvey, i feel say much could be accomplished.

in passing i would say that a very good book on Garvey's life and accomplishments as well as his shortcomings and failures was written by his wife, Sister Amy Garvey,... who would know him better?

anyway, we see clearly that before the international telephone, long before the computer, Garvey was able to unite 4 millions Africans, at home and abroad via the mails and word of mouth.
that alone is an accomplishment which dwarfs most
African movements today.

never again will a El Hajj Malik El Shabbazz
come to the forefront to lead the massive in fruitfull developements, i know there are thousands of " Malcolms " amongst we even now. the singular element, or one of the main elements which allowed Malcolm to reach so many, swelling the enrollments of the Nation of Islam to numbers never before seen, was the white controlled media who hungered for every speech and word in their avaricious quest to sell papers and tv ads. this , "they" will never do again. they have "learned"
their lesson well over the years, so anything said against this oppresive system will not get mass coverage, ever again. we witness this daily on the homogenized govt. propaganda called the tv news media. now, if folks where to read, there is a wealth of positive information which could raise consciousness beyond the daily ho hum, even in the so-called "liberal press", voices of decent can be gleened, though they do tend to squirm and wiggle around discrepancies in political policies, using "soft" language and don't really lower the hammer.

we watch tv, images on a screen, we don't read.
that is certainly a priority in our struggle for autonomy and unity.

other failures in our stuggle, is the perennial
"snitch", we are still today engulfed in a sea of snitches eager to sellout for a handfull of massa's crumbs and trinkets. snitches brought Turner down and snitches took Marcus out, snitches
took Malcolm out, snitches took Bogle down. If not for snitches, again we would be much further. W.E.B. Dubois, though a great scholar, was instrumental in undermining Garvey's activities, and that leads into the boulle, and that hole business. exhausting.

short of armed struggle, which will eventually come, maybe 50 to 100 years from now, as this baby called the united states begins to resemble more and more "The Other America" or latino america, with their glaring disparaties between the classes, we must remember that the first city in the americas was Santiago de Cuba, est. around 1507, almost two hundred years before the settlements in Virginia , so it would follow logic that the oligarchy running this beast will follow the pattern of the older american states. rigged elections to boot. when the repressive forces push the massive of people to unbearable proportions, violence will erupt, just like in the older america, the streets of US cities will resemble Fallujah, or Nicaragua or Guatemala or El Salvador word is bond.

economic boycott,... i have a political uncle
who was fond of saying " Fk all the boses,....right where it hurts,....in the pocket!"

of course he is right, that is the only thing that moves them, money. we must learn to direct our dollars away from their hands and circulate
