Re: rasta and the resistance
In Response To: Re: rasta and the resistance ()

peace and hotep,

' I must also stress that we as Rastafarians do not want EXACTLY the same things as the rest of these organisations.'

masimba musodza, focus on the things in common first and then detract. i do not know of any pan african group which is not seeking truth and justice. once those are granted the world we seek is possible. even the rasta movement is reactionary from its beginning.

'I think it was Bob Marley who said, "When you fighting a revolution, you are go fight it with Rasta. You can't win no other way.'

masimba musodza, surely marley equated rasta withe resistance. the resistance of the oppressed from their own oppressors.

'A "liberated" Africa dominated by Nation of Islam or Nation of Egypt or whatever would not be a safe place for a Rastafarian. A Pan-Africanist meeting with non-Rastafarians is no safe place for us.'

masimba musodza, i will not be so naive to think that rastafari is immune to humanities common enemies---- ignorance ,stubbornness and arrogance

'Oedipal issues ...... ( You get the idea).'

masimba musodza, the oedipus complex was coined by sigmonfraud not francis welsing. the sister only applied it to a global scale to examine how 'white'pseudo-supremacy operated. however this is not as reactionary as yacub/mad scientist propoganda utilized by the nation of islam in counterring the 'superman'claims of the eugenics movement.

'Rastafari stands for righteousness, building a nation that can survive in this time, and will take its place in the time to come. A nation steep in tradition and history, with the Scriptures as rudder.'

masimba musodza, it is notions of chosenness that has always been at fault. unless there is a way to convert even the people of china to rasta, what you suggest will not bear fruit

'I respect all these other movements, and have read their books.'

masimba musodza, then you know that we have more in common than difference

'But I tell you, Malcom X is not going to teach you about Rastafari.'

masimba musodza, obviously you are referring to the younger, rebellious malcomn. not the mature malcomn who later, to his own detriment, embraced the philosophy of one love as well as h.i.m's concept of o.a.u in africa / o.a.a.u in amorica

masimba musodza, everyone matures at their own speed. oppressors included......
