I must still beg to differ. Without belittling the struggle for Black emancipation, I must also stress that we as Rastafarians do not want EXACTLY the same things as the rest of these organisations. I think it was Bob Marley who said, "When you fighting a revolution, you are go fight it with Rasta. You can't win no other way. Coz if you win it no other way, you a go fight again".

I have to agree with him. A "liberated" Africa dominated by Nation of Islam or Nation of Egypt or whatever would not be a safe place for a Rastafarian. A Pan-Africanist meeting with non-Rastafarians is no safe place for us. I have attended many such meetings- if it is not a crazy mish-mash of myths about how whites are descended from Cain ( even though Cain's male line seed was wiped out in the flood- when this fact is pointed out, they then denounce the Bible as false), it is lurid researches in to how the word "mother******" really means a white man coz he has Oedipal issues with his Black wet nurse. ( You get the idea).

Rastafari stands for righteousness, building a nation that can survive in this time, and will take its place in the time to come. A nation steep in tradition and history, with the Scriptures as rudder. To put this in the same basket with the Black communities answer to the Nazis etc is not going to help anyone.

I respect all these other movements, and have read their books. But I tell you, Malcom X is not going to teach you about Rastafari. Neither is Wali Farad or Dr York or whatever.

In all things, let Rastafarai, the Deity, be Glorified.
