Greetings to you Sistren Hannah, if it is really you. I have read your books and interviews. I amnow hearing a different voice in the I posting here. You must not forget that many Rases have left Jamaica in the early 60's just when Rasta began to take hold of the youths. Many of the Rases that have left are now living in America and Elsewhere. So in making a distinction of Jamaican Rases and American Rases can lead to understatement, as I have seen in your post.
Word and sound and power. Black Rastas from the core of Jamaica have always knowledge and extol the Black American cry of Racism, Superiorism and economicism. Rastas from all walks do share that scrape of slavery as it is our fore parents that have suffered and today-we have not forgotten and become all loving. Jamaica Rastas hold Africa as the Highest and final rest for them. How else today would Rases still seek reparation, repartriation and do leave Jamaica for Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria etc. No Miss Hannah! you are sounding too soft here. I can't knowledge it is you making weak points here. Selah.
Every houses from Jamaica---knows that Jamaica is only a sojourn and not a real home.
More so! American Rastas and Jamaican Rastas are no different. They all want to see betterment of Black people, facts over emotion. Your comparison is so lacking for a true Rasta mission. The purpose of the Rastman is to right the wrong that has been commited by Babylon...to chant till Babylon throne has fallen down. Why? both Jamaican and American Rases knows that Babylon system do not work for the masses.
So I say my Idrens in America is no different in principles, but maybe different or comparable in material mission. Selah.
My Rasses do not get side to BomboClaat.. do not become too humble that you cannot have the strength to chant down Babylon. Selassie I spent his life beating down injustice and wrong by Babylon. It is that militant stance that all Rases ardent everywhere take up. So American Rastas are not different from Jamaica Rastas in anyway. Of course people would come from far to see the Jamaican Rastas. But it is not because they are more accepting of everyone. Every Rases is under high suspicion of Babylon. Our eyes are wide open. However, because we are not haters we would welcome the opportunity to dialogue-as Rases is always overs-ing and reasoning.
I call on all Rases to be analytical and purposeful challenge everything you hear to make sure they of Rastafari. Selah.
