Greetings Sister! Thanx for straightening the House once again
I read your post and i truly overs what you've said in regard to the Jamaican Rasta and the American/European/African Rasta!!!
If the content of this message is to be fully overstand then i say the weighting of your message is contained in your first paragraph
"All religions have been given to mankind by the Recording Angels, who know the spiritual requirements of each class, nation, and race, and have the intelligence to give each a form of worship perfectly suited to its particular need.’ This message perfectly describes the origin of I&I Rastafari faith"
This indeed is true! The faith as practiced by Rastas in London Ingland United Kingdom where i reside now is sooo much different compared to the rases from Yard! which is found in their love, humuility and patience.
I am a Rasta from Nigeria born and raised in the shanty areas witnessed severe hardship and adversity for 17yrs before gaining entry on academic sponsorship into England as a result i have infused alot of my personal culture, belief and philosophy into my faith, along with this is also tied in a strong sense of Pan-Africanism. It is no doubt that each religion is suited to people in different regions/continent. RASTA FAITH LIVITY WAS BORN IN JAMAICA BY THE ELDERS but he who feels it knows it!
In Africa we are equally blessed with our religion which again has been bestowed upon us by the guarding Angels to suit our particular needs. However with the advent of christianity and Islam came the gradual erosion of this and replaced with Christianity and Islam.(This is another topic best discussed on another thread)
The new idrens from different parts of the world embracing rastafari need to draw closer to the foundation of the Rastafari movement, learn from elders, HIM Selassie and make committed efforts to attend gatherings of Rastas in their local areas meeting people.Once the fundamentals have been grasphed then new ideas may be suggested by this new initiates to existing members and elders But because such an organised Scheme (registration, initiation) does not exist, rasta is open to all and sundry Black and White. This means any one is free to call themselve rastas!
So what we really have are DREADIES!
Fashion conscious people,Liberal black Intellectuals, Reggae fans, Experimenters with drugs, Hippies,Homosexuals/Lesbians(rainbow colour), Left wing liberal views and alot of Wandering souls on a continous search for spirituality.
This board in as much as it enables one N Ones to reason in cyber space regarding situations affecting black people & Rasta should not be seen as a substitute to "human contact" and face2face reasonings with elders in the faith.
There are a lot of disguised people on this forum, some are Rastas Many are not whilst others are infiltrators.! But the internet been a forum for learing and information helps in facilitating reasonings here. Whilst many are uplifted, encouraged, guided, advised, others are questioned and corrected. By and large this forum is only a medium for discussion.
Real Rastas know themselves and know the duties entrusted to us by our elders and ancestors from Africa and beyond. We will continue to plant seeds, show Love, teach, grow, conquer & hold firm and united in Babylon.
Rasta is not purely internet bizness, music and chalice blazing there is much more to Rastafari. But for the sake of brevity i will allow others to say more on this.
May the struggle continue.Death to all downpressors white and black.
ONE BLACK LOVE
