Re: Lion man and Lamb man .....

Blessed! Sorry for taking I time. Don't want to do injustice to Dennis Forsythe's thoughts. Here's something very short about the subject. Hope the I gets something out of it. :)

Dennis Forsythe talks about Rastas starting off as Anancies, then being reincarnated to Lions and from that, moving on to the Lamb stage. He also talks about Don Juan from Carlos Castanedas books and his definitions of the same stages in the spiritual development.

Lion man

In the Old Testament the roaring lion takes on great divine significance (Jeremiah 50:44, Hos. 13:7). Jah reveals himself to the prophet Baruch "as a mighty warrior - like a lion - who will bring the leaders of the Roman Empire in chains to Mount Zion and afterwards establish a Kingdom of Peace" (Dennis Forsythe, Rastafari - For the Healing of the Nations, pg. 112).
The lion is seen as a supreme power totem - stressing a kind of "moving territoriality", family pride, strong male/female roles, the training of the young and family responsibility.
The lion symbolizes strength, courageusness, fearlessness, honesty. They are leaders and do not lend themselves to being easily led. Dennis Forsythe talks about the Sphinx, who has a body of a lion and the facial features of an Afrikan and says that the name - Sphinx - is said to be a Coptic word meaning "a man who has his heart in his eyes, or is without disguise".
Don Huan uses the term warrior instead of the lion and describes the warrior stage as "causing a man to live strategically, to overcome fear of his own death, to take responsibility for his acts and to develop his willpower and endless capacity for struggling".

Lamb man

This would be the highes level of spiritual development. In the New Testament lamb symbolizes Christ's level of spiritual power. Book of Revelations talks about the lamb as the eventual victor, the one who will inherit the earth (Rev. 7:17, 17:14).
The lamb has greater spiritual awareness and power than the lion. Eastern philosophys talk about the lamb stage as an "internal clairvoyance stage in which one clearly sees and comprehends everything through infinite time and space, and manifesting itself as universal love and the capacity to embrace all opposites and turn them into compliments. (Dennis Forsythe, Rastafari - For the Healing of the Nations, pg. 115)
Don Juan calls the lamb a man of knowledge and says that he "perceives the world with his senses, with his will and with his "seeing". When able to "see" he does not have to live like a warrior, for he can see things as they really are and direct life accordingly."

The lion must lay foundations to the lamb. According to Don Juan "to see without first being a warrior would make a person weak; it would give one a false meekness, a desire to retreat; and one's body would decay".

The book, Rastafari - For the Healing of the Nations, is a truly interesting reading, so if the I can get the hands on the book do take a look at it!

Give thanks,
Sis Hanna
