Bob Marley's Earthday Celebrations

Tuff Gong International, the company owned by the Marley family, last week released the list of events and venues that will mark the 57th birthday of reggae legend, Bob Marley.

The celebrations start February 1 and will cover two weeks. During this period, a number of events -- including live shows, a church service and panel discussions on Marley -- will be held.

Widely regarded as the man who introduced reggae to a world audience in the 1970s, Marley was born February 6, 1945 in Nine Miles, St Ann. He died May 23, 1981 in Miami, Florida.

Friday, February 1

Launch of Black History Month/Bob Marley Week

Black History Facts and Fiction Display 10:00 am-4:00 pm daily until February 28.

Free admission.

Panel discussion at 12:00 pm-2:00 pm.

"Contradiction the Effects of Slavery and Economic Frustration in Our Society Today".

Film and Fish Friday - Rebel Music at 6:00 pm

All at Bob Marley Museum.

Saturday, February 2

"Dem Ago Tired Fi Si Mi Face Concert" - Nine Miles, St Ann at 8:00 pm.

Sunday, February 3

Church Service - Bob Marley Museum at 9:00 am.

Monday, February 4

Tuff Gong opens "Gongs Masters"

Press day at Tuff Gong International.

Tuesday, February 5

"The Making of Music" tour - Tuff Gong International; open to public 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Wednesday, February 6 - Bob Marley Day

"The Trail of Bob's Life" float - Nine Miles, St Ann at 7:00 am

Bob Marley Karaoke Stylee at Bob Marley Museum at 5:30 pm.

Thursday, February 7

Official opening of Queen of Sheba Restaurant at 10:00 am at Bob Marley Museum Mini fashion show Tuff Gong International Customer Appreciation Day at 10:00 am.

Friday, February 8

Schools present "Creative Expression Day" at 4:00 pm

Film & Fish Friday - Harder They Come at 6:00 pm; all at Bob Marley Museum.

Saturday, February 9

Herbal Healer and Nutritionist - Queen Afua book signing of Sacred Woman.

Sunday, February 10

Wednesday, February 13
