Reparations Take Off in Jamaica

Greetings, Members of the IRSGroup
I am pleased to announce that, after positive discussions with a
progressive radio personality, the Launch of the Jamaica Reparations
Movement will take place on Sunday, February 3, 2002 from 7-9 a.m.
on the IRIE-FM radio programme "Running African", whose host Andrea
Williams will be MC.

JaRM Steering Committee Members speaking will be:

Barbara Makeda Blake Hannah – Background to JaRM
Ambassador Dudley Thompson – Pan African Overview of Reparations
Chief Pearnel Charles – Reparations Compensating free labour
Lord Anthony Gifford – International Lawyers for Reparations
Dr.Verene Shepherd, UWI – Historical Research Sub-Committee
Mutabaruka – Rastafari Response
Mrs. Sheila Monteith,Min. of Foreign Affairs -- UN Liaison
Mr. Buddy Larrier, Barbados – Caribbean Connection

Special Guest Speaker – Professor Charles Ogletree,
Harvard Law School – US Reparations movement
(awaiting confirmation)

We will also have cultural contributions and call-in endorsement
from selected national organisations.

Further details of the Launch will be posted as they are confirmed,
including a website address where you can join the thousands of
Jamaicans who will tune in to this extremely popular Sunday morning
Jamaican radio show to listen to the Launch.
