Rastafari-Bob Marley Songs of Freedom

"The source of Rastafari lies in a specific geographical area, the Nile valley, a huge region that includes Egypt in the north and Ethiopia in the south. The philosophy at the heart of Rastafari is gathered from the soul of this part of Africa. For example, it acknowledges Ra, revered by the Egyptians as the god of the sun, as a life-giving force, and accepts that
mankind is not separate or different from God, or Jah, an abbreviation fro Jehovah.

Rastafari believes that within man there are three different levels: the animal stage, where he is controlled by his passions; a second stage, where he has recognised and is goverened by his will to command his emotions; and the third stage where he is able to commune peacfully with the inner depths of his being: such an individual is considered a "Godman", and only such a person is capable of sitting on a throne."
