The Ganja debate w.r.t. Bob Marley's death.

Greetings and Jah blessings to all participants of this message board. This month is deemed 'Drug Awareness Month' in Barbados and the anti-substance abuse organisations are usually very active. In preparation for a seminar next week on the pros and cons linked with the decriminalisation/legalisation of ganja/marijuana,the editorial in Wednesday 16th Jan.2002 of the Barbados Advocate has embarked on its constant diatribe which it so often exhibits when it discusses topics related to Africa,Pan-Africanists,Rastafari and in this case,substance-abuse.The first paragraph in question reads as follows:The claim that Robert'Bob'Marley(later a Jamaican National Hero)died of cancer in his big toe is no longer publicly advanced in Barbados. The University sociologist who first offered that explanation has been silent ever since this newspaper shared official information on the true cause, brain and lung cancer, apparently induced by chemicals contained in marijuana smoke.Participants in an upcoming seminar on drug abuse should take note of this information ,if,as we suspect, there is an attempt to defend consumption on 'religious grounds'or otherwise promote the illegal substance during the discussions.(end of quote)Please share some thoughts and info on this subject of community interest. One Love.Ras Iral.
