Re: the return of Addis Ababa's lost tabot.

Blessings and Melkam Lidet.
The news of the return of this stolen Magdala treasure gives me great joy.

It also causes me to remind ones and ones that the loot from Magdala included a very holy and precious icon -- Christ With a Crown of Thorns -- also called the Kwerara Re-esu. It is a picture of Iyesos Krystos which shows him with thick brown dreadlocks framing his face and hanging down on his chest. The holy icon dates back to the 10th Century and was a "paladin", carried in front of Ethiopian troops when going into battle. Rases swore allegiance to the Emperor before it, and it was as special as the copy of the Kebra Nagast which was stolen at the same time.
Research has shown that the icon passed through many hands until it reached the collection of Queen Victoria at Windsor Palace, but this was always denied by the British royal family. When the collection at Windsor Palace burnt up in that big fire, we fear the icon was also lost. (It is worth noting that the great Windsor Palace fire took place at the same time that Princess Diana was moving her belongings out of HIghgrove, the home she shared with Charles!)

The return of the looted Magdala treasures formed the basis on which Ras Seymour McLean secretly and continuously invaded the British Museum, and Imperial War Museum and took out precious documents such as the Prayer of the Virgin Mary, the Kebra Nagast (this is how the first photocopied copies first started circulating 20 years ago). He was caught and brought to trial, but the judge gave him the minimum sentence of 9 months, as he agreed that the Ras was returning what really belonged to Ethiopians.

The obelisk from Aksum which is held by Italy is also among the treasures to be returned.

It is worth noting that among the Reparations recommendations of the World Conference Against Racism was a strong recommendation for the return of looted cultural treasures.

Blessings to the Scottish priest who fulfilled his CHRIST-ian duty.
ONE LOVE
Makeda
