Re: Rasta MUST think about capoeira ?

Greets All

I looked into this after reading this topic and read that capoeira was brought over from slaves from Africa. It also said that it evolved here in the Americas as a way of defending one's self due to the fact that slaves could not carry weapons....I had never heard of it before I read this. Thanks for the topic Ras Mandingo!

Do you think that all martial arts evolved from Africa as Sister Roots Womb-man has stated? I know that Asian martial arts was developed by Zen Buddhist monks as a way to defend their monasteries against aggresors...is there a connection, or do things evolve seperatley and independent of each other? How would Zen Buddhist monks borrow things from African traditions they never knew of?

Peace and Love
Jeff
