Dear brother Jeff,
The way it all adds up to me is in the mystic. Rules of succession for the Ethiopian throne are results of human efforts to overstand relationship with earthly and divine ruler. Europeans had their divine right of kings nonsense. The difference is that in Selassie-I person the divine and human do indeed intersect : the Book is fulfilled in the person of Haile Selassie I, and thus the throne of David is perpetually occupied. My prediction is that no human will ever again sit as emperor of Ethiopia. Time will tell, yes?
