i&i would firstly wish to apologise for my inability to practice the tolerance and positivity that those who are patiently teaching me about this livity have tried to explain. But, i&i feel that the purpose of these supposed reasonings must be spoken of....
Kaya, Edmundo, i&i have tremendous respect for your zeal and convictions. Faith is a miraculous thing. Self-righteousness, however, is not. You couch your questions in polite language, you speak of respect and even tolerance, but the bottom line is that you think that you are right and everyone else is wrong. Correct me if I am wrong, but in your version of an ideal world there would be no rasta (or for that matter islam, buddhism, hinduism etc.)
You are not asking these questions out of any genuine search for overstanding, but as a means to an end, which is to expose what you percieve as a logical inconsistancy within the rasta world-view.
It is not possible to give you the kind of proof you are looking for. This is not a question that can be validated by empirical evidence, and backed up by a set of verifiable secondary sources. the rasta belief in the nature of HIM is, in the final analysis, one that is reliant on a degree of faith, backed up by what we percieve as the evidence of our hearts and capacity to percieve what is true. It is not something based alone on what HIM said, or did, or was, but also on what HIM represented, and most importantly, what HIM made possible and awakened.
If you do not choose to believe this that is fine with i&i. And in this lies the fundamental differnce as i&i see it between the rasta livity and that which you profess, we are prepared to accept diversity. We do not go to christian boards and ask you to justify your faith in Jesus. I&i work at a university. For you to be able to justify your beliefs to the standards which would be acceptable in this institution would be just as difficult as it is for rastas to adequatetly satisfy your requests.
So please, if you are here to learn then so be it. If, however, you are here as a means to further your assertion of absolute truth, please desist and show a little respect, as indeed i&i believe that christ would encourage you to do if he were among us today.
