To most of the world, New Year was celebrated on 1 January 2001, but not so in Ethiopia. On Tuesday 11 September they marked the beginning of the year 1994.
The Ethiopian calendar is seven years and eight months behind the Western, or Gregorian, calendar. The calendar is made up of 12 months of 30 days and a 13th month of five or six days, depending whether or not it is a leap year. End
